Vanessa Sanchez is a senior at Westminster High who wants to become a fashion writer. We’re giving her a taste here with her own month-long series, “High school eyes.”

I think socks say a lot about a person. You can look pretty “fly” on the outside, but wait until  you take off your shoes.
Socks do matter. When you wear dark or dressy clothes, white socks do not go well. You might think you’ve got it all figured out with your outfit. Then you sit down, your pants go up, and you can see those cloud white socks. It just make me want to laugh — and I think, “I guess people don’t have style after all.”

Case in point:

Why does this always seem to happen: You go out wearing the ugliest socks you have, but you think it doesn’t matter; your clothes look cool anyway, right? But then it seems you always get invited to a house where they take off their shoes inside. You know, those people who have that little rack of some sort at the very entrance. Oh, and that person just so happens to be the person you like.

Why is it that so many people don’t give much thought to what they wear underneath?  We will buy the coolest shoes, but not make the time to at least buy the cheapest bag of, oh, six pairs of normal socks.

Here are some socks spotted around Westminster High School:

What’s up with the holes? Is it the long toenails or are most people professional ballet dancers and soccer players? Why do people save their old socks?
